Trading platforms, and what each is for.

The trading platform this site names, the kinds of trading platform, and what to look for in any of them.

The platform this page names

Noryn Markets names one trading platform. There is no separate app of its own.

  • MetaTrader 5 (MT5) Platform

MetaTrader 5, often shortened to MT5, is the trading platform Noryn Markets names. It is made by a third-party developer, which publishes it for desktop computers, web browsers and mobile devices. Which of those are supported, and how the platform is reached, are to be confirmed.

Ways to trade

In general, trading platforms come in three kinds. This describes the kinds, not which of them the platform above is offered in.

  • Desktop

Software installed on a computer. A large screen suits following several charts and instruments side by side, and desktop platforms usually have the widest range of features.

  • Web

Runs in a web browser with nothing to install, so it can be used from any computer with an up-to-date browser.

  • Mobile

Apps for phones and tablets, for following prices and positions away from a desk. A small screen shows less at once, so many people use a mobile app alongside a larger screen.

What to look for in a platform

  • Prices and costs in view

The buy and sell prices should be visible before you trade, with the spread: the gap between the two, which is a cost of every trade.

  • Order types

Besides trading at the current price, platforms usually let you set orders that act at a price you choose, such as a stop-loss, which closes a position if the price moves against you. In a fast market it can close at a worse price than the one set.

  • Charts and records

Price charts over different periods, and a record of your past trades with the cost of each.

  • Sign-in security

Protection for your sign-in, such as a second verification step, and a clear way to sign out on a shared device.

Questions about the platforms

Which platform does Noryn Markets offer?

The MetaTrader 5 (MT5) Platform, and no other. There is no separate app published under the firm's own name. Which devices are supported and which account types reach the platform are to be confirmed.

Is there a charge for using a platform?

What a platform costs, if anything, goes with the account it is used from, so it is Noryn Markets' to state rather than something to read off this page. Ask at [email protected], or through the contact form.

Which devices and operating systems are supported?

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) Platform is published by its maker for desktop computers, web browsers and mobile devices. Which of those are supported is confirmed at [email protected] or through the contact form.

What is the difference between a platform and an account?

An account is the arrangement you trade under, with its own pricing and conditions. A platform is the software you use to place and manage trades. The accounts page compares the account types.

Do I need to install anything?

Not for a web platform, which runs in a browser. A desktop platform is installed on a computer, and a mobile platform is an app installed from your device’s app store.

Important information

Trading forex and contracts for difference involves a high level of risk, and it is not suitable for every investor. These products use leverage, which means a position can be held with only part of its value set aside as margin, and leverage magnifies gains and losses alike. A position may be closed when margin requirements are not met. Markets can move quickly, and at times a market can be difficult to trade at all. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Nothing on this website is investment advice or a recommendation, and nothing here takes account of your objectives, your experience or your circumstances. Consider your own circumstances, and seek independent advice before you act.

This page names one trading platform and explains what a platform does. What it costs, which devices it runs on and which account reaches it are confirmed by Noryn Markets on request, and nothing here links to a download.
